Yes, people returned me to power after 2019 polls, but Thackeray betrayed us: Devendra Fadnavis | Mumbai News
2 min readThe war of words between NCP president Sharad Pawar and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis continued on Thursday. A day after Pawar flayed PM Narendra Modi for speaking like Fadnavis, the DyCM replied to his remark. In a government function held at Shirdi, Fadnavis said, “I didn’t know that my remark ‘I will return’ would intimidate so many politicians.”
In 2019, ahead of the Assembly elections, Fadnavis, who was the chief minister, had exuded confidence of coming back to power as CM. “I will return,” Fadnavis had said.
Today, Fadnavis said, “What I predicted came true. The people gave us mandate. But our alliance partner (undivided Shiv Sena) had betrayed us. However, what we did with those who betrayed our trust? We got the entire Shiv Sena to our side.”
Fadnavis’s assertion came after Pawar’s criticism on Wednesday where he had said, “The PM during his I-Day speech said he will return after 2024 polls. In the past, Fadnavis had uttered the same. Fadnavis returned, but not as CM.
