1 min readMany villages in Nangal area of Ropar district were flooded after the floodgates of Bhakhra dam were opened on Wednesday. Following this, four teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were deployed at the sites to carry out the rescue operations.

The officials also said that an alert was sounded in the low-lying areas and many people were evacuated safely.
One of the teams were at the Harsa Bela village where at least 17 people were stranded in the floods.
The teams of the district administration and the NDRF were carrying out the rescue operations till filing of this report.
