Authorities have directed private players to park their aircrafts at airports in neighbouring cities in the wake of huge demand for parking space at the Ahmedabad airport. According to sources, parking requests for private aircrafts have come from Mumbai, Delhi and other parts of the country.
Five of the nine parking proposals by private aircrafts at Surat airport have been approved so far, said Surat Airport Director Rupeshkumar Lohani. “We are working on the remaining four. The reason has not been mentioned in the request proposals for parking on November 19. We are also giving permission for landing and takeoff of aircrafts. The request sent by the private aircraft players is that they wanted to park on November 19 morning, evening or on the next day,” he added.
Currently, the airport has 15 parking stands of which seven are allotted to regular private aircrafts. “In July, we got six new parking stands. Among them, 11 parking stands are for bigger aircrafts. We will have three more parking stands for bigger aircrafts in the next couple of months,” Lohani said.
