Rohit Roy recalls when Hrithik Roshan stopped Kaabil shoot because safety measures were not in place: ‘He said Rohit, don’t give the shot’ | Bollywood News
2 min readRohit Roy, who appeared in a significant role alongside Hrithik Roshan in director Sanjay Gupta’s film Kaabil, recently recalled when Hrithik stopped him from doing a dangerous stunt on the set, because proper safety measures were not in place. The film was produced by Hrithik’s father, Rakesh Roshan.
Rohit recalled in a chat with Siddharth Kannan that while filming the climax sequence, which was an 11-minute action scene featuring his and Hrithik’s characters, Rohit was being extremely careful. “I was the one beating him up in that, and he was taking it all. I was doing it softly because I thought it’s Hrithik, if I accidentally hit him, it will be bad. He came up to me and told me, ‘Bro, go for it, hit me hard’. He said, ‘You don’t worry, everything is in place, you hit me’,” he recalled.
Rohit said that Hrithik has no ego about how he is coming across on screen, and is always thinking about the bigger picture. “Hrithik is the kind of actor who is not thinking about how he is looking, or how the other person is looking . He is thinking about what it will look like when the audience watches it on the big screen,” he shared.
Rohit recalled another anecdote from the film’s set, when at the end of an action sequence, he was supposed to fall on the ground after getting hit by a rod. Rohit said that as soon as Hrithik arrived on the set, he asked about Rohit’s crash mat. “I said, ‘Crash mat? It’s just one shot.’ He said, ‘But you are doing a deal fall, right?’ I said yes. Then he called the direction team and they told him that since this was the last shot of the day, the action team has packed up and left. He said, ‘No, Rohit, don’t give the shot’,” he recalled.
Rohit noted that this was Hrithik’s father’s production, but the actor took a stand for his safety. “He didn’t let me give the shot. He sent his assistant to his van and said, ‘Get my crash mat and place it properly or else Rohit won’t give the shot’,” he shared, and added, “People talk about the good looks of Hrithik Roshan but the human being he is… this is what I took away from Kaabil.”
The actor shared that on the first day of the film’s release, Hrithik tweeted about his performance and recalled, “After we finished the film and he saw the film, he sent me a Panerai watch saying that this was one of the best performances.”
Rohit was recently seen in Khatron Ke Khiladi 13.
