Now, pay double to park your car in CP, other areas as NDMC hikes fees to discourage private transport | Delhi News
2 min readThe New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to increase its existing parking fees by two-fold in a temporary attempt to discourage private transport in view of the rising levels of pollution in the capital.
“The parking fees (off road/on road) has been enhanced to twice of the existing to discourage private transport for the parking managed by NDMC through its own staff,” the NDMC said in a public notice. This hike in parking fees will be strictly complied upon till January 31, 2024, the NDMC notified Monday.
The NDMC said that the Air Quality Index (AQI) has been on a “rising trend” due to which this decision has been enforced. “The AQI is expected to remain in Severe+ category further, owing to the highly unfavourable meteorological and climatic conditions,” the statement said.

The NDMC has taken the decision based on the guidelines by the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM).
