A joint secretary from the state Agriculture department is facing a transfer and departmental inquiry after it was found that the officer used a paper with the chief minister’s sign to stop the transfer of another officer. It came to light that the said letter had no stamp from the CMO nor the inward-outward number as mandated. The agriculture minister reportedly took the matter seriously and threw the joint secretary out of his department.
BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has been seen frequently in the Mumbai Police headquarters trying to follow up on the various cases registered by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) like the khichdi scam in which some from the opposition have been named. The frequency with which Somaiya has been seen in the police headquarters has led to banter with some wondering if a separate space should be allocated for him in the headquarters.
A senior officer, against whom the departmental inquiry is pending in the alleged misappropriation of funds while issuing tenders for publicity for his department, is eyeing the vacant director’s post at Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy & Infrastructure Technology Limited or MahaPreit. The officer is slated to retire in the next two-three months and has already contacted an influential person in the Chief Minister’s Office for an extension. With years of experience in handling tenders, the officer is eyeing yet another run post-retirement.
