An FIR has been registered against Enforcement Directorate officials under provisions of the SC/ST Act based on a complaint by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who has accused the central officials of “tarnishing his image”.
In his complaint, Soren has claimed that his image has been maligned by the ED officials who reached his Delhi residence without any prior information and propagated false news, SSP Ranchi Chandan Sinha said.
“Yes, an FIR has been registered at the instance of CM Hemant Soren. In his complaint he said that his image has been maligned by ED officials who reached Delhi residence without any information and propagated false news,” SSP Ranchi Chandan Sinha said.
This comes two days after a team of ED visited the South Delhi residence of Soren on Monday to question him in connection with a money laundering investigation in an alleged land fraud case. But he was not present at his home.
The ED claims to have seized Rs 36 lakh in cash, a BMW SUV “registered under a benami name”, and documents from the premises. Its team camped there for almost 13 hours.
The ED has issued 10 summons to Soren so far — the latest asked him to appear for questioning on January 29 or January 31. He was also questioned on January 20 at his Ranchi residence for seven hours.
