Gurgaon woman moves HC fearing demolition of house, shop; deputy commissioner directed to look into issue | Chandigarh News
2 min readThe Punjab and Haryana High Court on Wednesday disposed of a Gurgaon resident’s petition seeking directions to the Haryana government not to demolish her house and shop and directed the deputy commissioner of Gurgaon district to decide her representation expeditiously, in accordance with law and preferably within a month.
The bench of Justice Rajesh Bhardwaj was hearing a petition filed by Rasheeda Khan.
Khan, through counsel Mohammad Arshad, sought directions to the Haryana government not to demolish her shop and residential house situated at Siwana Sohna in Sohna tehsil of Gurgaon district, saying she has undisputed title over the said property.
A demolition drive was carried out in Haryana’s Nuh and Gurgaon following communal violence that began in the areas on July 31, prompting the Punjab and Haryana High Court to take suo motu cognisance of the matter.
Advocate Arshad argued that Khan approached the court as she faced apprehension that her house and shop would also be demolished because stones were pelted near her house and the administration had marked her house.

Khan also submitted that for redressal of her grievances, she has already filed a representation, dated August 3, 2023, to the deputy commissioner of Gurgaon district but no action has been taken.
Arshad pointed out that the issue involved in Khan’s petition is already pending before the high court division bench.
On being issued notice by the high court, Upasana Dhawan, additional advocate general of Haryana, accepted notice on behalf of the respondents.
