NIFT Director General and Additional Secretary (Textiles) Rohit Kansal, in his address to the class of 2023, quoted John F Kennedy, saying: “’Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country’.”
He encouraged students to think about what they can give back to society, family and country. “This can include respecting parents, being fair to co-workers, being empathetic towards those less privileged, being kind to the environment, following constitutional duties, developing a rational temper and having pride in the 5,000-year-old civilization.”
The convocation was followed by Khadi Mahotsav to commemorate 154th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. It included an exhibition of 30 charcoal paintings made by NIFT students depicting the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
