Assailant shoots local Congress leader dead in Punjab’s Moga after barging in to his house

Police said that Baljinder Singh Balli, who was locally known also as “namberdar”, was shot dead after an assailant barged in to his house and opened fire. It is suspected that another assailant was sitting outside on a motorbike.
Balli was the Congress block president in Ajitwal.
In the CCTV footage of the incident, a shooter is seen barging in when Balli was standing in the porch of his house. He opens fire and Balli collapses. One of the bullets hit his chest. An elderly man appears and tries to hold Balli but he again collapses. He was taken to a hospital but succumbed to bullet injuries, according to the police.
Moga SSP J Elanchezhian reached the spot and started an investigation.
