Amul, which is known for its creative take on a variety of topics, including cricket, featured Indian-origin New Zealand cricketer Rachin Ravindra in a post on Instagram on Sunday.
The Amul topical took a sports turn as it depicted the caricature of Ravindra in his New Zealand team jersey with the tagline “Rachin for the Stars”. The post also read “What a breadsman” as a word-play on Ravindra’s position as batsman in his team.
The caption of the post read: “#Amul Topical — New Zealand batsman of Indian origin excels with two centuries in WC 2023!”. Ravindra has impressed cricket enthusiasts with his consistent performance, having scored two centuries in the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

Though New Zealand lost to Australia by five runs in Saturday’s match, Ravindra himself scored a century which gave the Kiwis a fighting chance. This century was also the fastest century in the ODI World Cup where he beat his own record of 82 balls.
Australia’s close-call win against New Zealand set the stage for a high scoring match where Ravindra scored 116 runs in 89 balls out of which 9 were fours and 5 were sixes. In the ICC World Cup ranking, New Zealand ranks third having played six matches out of which they won four and lost two.
Having played his debut match in international cricket in September 2021, Ravindra has quickly gained the hearts of the audience as is evident from Amul’s post.
